We’re all at least a little bit guilty of it– you turn on the radio, flip through the stations, and finally, you settle on a song that maybe isn’t the height of musical genius. Something by Pitbull or Jason DeRulo or one of the many other artists out there who, while talented, isn’t exactly producing anything new or innovative.

These songs are catchy, and we all love to listen to them, but, when you really listen, hard, and you start to hear some of their lyrics, you may start to realize that some of those can be absolutely, downright ridiculous.

Here are some of the most ridiculous lyrics that you’ll hear in today’s hit songs on the radio:

10. Taylor Swift, “Love Story”

“Cause you were Romeo/I was a scarlet letter/And my daddy said stay away from Juliet”

Tay may have mixed up a few too many literary references in this lyric, which, when you think about it, just doesn’t make any sense.

9. Black Eyed Peas, “My Humps”

“What you gon’ do with all that junk?/ All that junk inside your trunk?/ I’ma get, get, get, get, you drunk/ Get you love drunk off my hump./ My hump, my hump, my hump (ha), my lovely lady lumps (Check it out).”

As discussed in the hilarious film “Blades of Glory,” “No one knows what it means, but it’s provocative.” These lyrics from the Black Eyed Peas don’t make much sense, but they do keep the song upbeat and dance worthy.

8. Train, “50 Ways to Say Goodbye”

“Someday I’ll find a love like yours/ She’ll think I”m Superman, not SuperMinivan/ How could you leave on Yom Kippur?”

Maybe these strange references to “SuperMinivan” and “Yom Kippur” have some significance to the writer of the song, but to the listeners, it is just downright confusing.

7. Selena Gomez, “I Love You Like a Love Song”

“I love you like a love song baby.”

What does it mean to love someone like a love song, exactly? Does it mean you love them like people describe loving in love songs? Does it mean you love to listen to love songs, and you love them as much as doing that? The world may never know.

6. LFO, “Summer Girls”

“New Kids on the Block had a bunch of hits/ Chinese food makes me sick/ And I think it’s fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer.”

Yes, we get it, songs are supposed to rhyme, but sometimes bands take it a little too far in their quest for lyrical symmetry. New Kids on the Block and Chinese food making you sick have nothing to do with each other, and “hits” and “sick” hardly rhyme anyways.

5. Jason Mraz, “I’m Yours”

“I’ve been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror/ And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer/ But my breath fogged up the glass/ And so I drew a new face and I laughed”

What exactly was Mraz checking his tongue for? And was there an old face? These are the kinds of tough questions that the lyrics to Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” are raising for the listeners.

4. Drake, “Shut it Down”

“Yeah baby, you finer than your fine cousin/ And your cousin fine”

Not really sure this is the best way to seduce a lady, Drake. No one wants to be compared to their “fine cousin,” even if they’re being told they’re “finer.”

3. Hilary Duff, “So Yesterday”

“If the light is off/ Then it isn’t on”

Really, Hillary? Please tell us more about the magical phenomenon of light switches. Of course, she could have meant this as some sort of metaphor, but even then, it wouldn’t make all that much sense.

2. Big Sean featuring Nicki Minaj, “Dance Ass”

“Ass ass ass ass ass ass ass / Ass ass ass ass ass ass ass / Ass ass ass ass ass ass ass / Stop…”

Clearly, this song is meant for people who want to dance, not people who want to sit around and discuss the meaning of song lyrics. But still, the lyrics to this song get straight up lazy, with the same word repeated 21 times in quick succession all to create a beat that people will want to listen to.

1. Rebecca Black, “Friday”

“Yesterday was Thursday/ Today is Friday/ We are so excited/ We gonna have a ball today Tomorrow is Saturday/ And Sunday comes afterwards”

Oh, the stupid lyrics heard around the world. Rebecca Black’s “Friday” took the world by storm as people gasped at just how horrible a song could be.

From the over auto-tuned singing to the cheesy music video, this song takes the cake on being one of the worst songs ever written. But it was the ultra-obvious and extremely badly written lyrics that really brought this song to the top (or bottom) of the game.
